Choosing a difficulty level (Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced)
Difficulty sets student scaffolding, instruction disclosure, solution style, and test depth. Choose the level, inspect the package, then approve and validate.

Difficulty controls more than the label on an assignment. It affects starter scaffolding, student instructions, solution style, and how deeply the generated tests cover behavior.
Choose the level

Beginner: guided starter work and detailed instructions. The Complete Program section intentionally includes the validated worked solution for this level.
Intermediate: partial scaffolding and guidance on behavior without implementation-ready answers.
Advanced: requirements and interfaces with minimal code disclosure. Students design the approach.
Pick the level that matches what your students can do now. Review the generated Starter and Instructions before approval. If the student-facing material reveals too much or too little, edit it or regenerate the relevant artifact, then approve and validate the current package again.
CodeTeach checks the unchanged starter against the final tests so a starter that already earns too many points cannot silently pass as meaningful student work. The solution and tests must still pass quality validation before Deploy.
